The Cliff House Resort & Spa Offers Canine Massage

Canine guests as well as their masters and mistresses may enjoy a stimulating massage at Maine's Cliff House Resort & Spa this season.

Canine massage helps to minimize pain from arthritis and hip problems, increases circulation, helps in reducing anxiety, stress, fear and other emotional issues, improves cardiovascular health, relieves pain and provides relaxation. Says Maine veterinarian Dr. Gary Stuer, who integrates Western veterinary medicine with complimentary and holistic therapies, "Many middle-aged and older pets suffer from arthritis and joint disease. Massage improves not only their health but their quality of life."

Two, 25-minute sessions will be offered in the privacy of the Cliff House Resort's eight pet-friendly Ledges Rooms. The Customized Massage targets muscles that need extra attention with a variety of massage techniques to ensure the best possible massage for the canine guest. The Aromatherapy Massage combines essential oils and a soothing touch to help dogs become stress free.

Each pet-friendly Ledges Room provides a water dish, canine bed, PYOP bag, ground floor access to an enclosed exercise area, and all-natural dog treats. Dogs are welcome (on a leash) to walk the resort's 65 acres of lawns, woods and rocky seashore.

The Cliff House Resort & Spa has been owned and operated by the Weare Family since 1872. The founder's great-granddaughter, Kathryn Weare, is the mistress of seven collies whom she shows and trains for agility trials. The 194-room resort has a state-of-the-art, world-class spa with indoor lap pool, outdoor vanishing pool, whirlpools and fitness center. The spa is well known for its blueberry, wild rose and native juniper body wraps and Stone Massage featuring local stones from the millennia-old Bald Head Cliff.

Information on the Cliff House Resort & Spa is available on the website at www.cliffhousemaine.com or by calling 207-361-1000.
